Doormat, Ontario’s trusted digital real estate law service, has rebranded as Ownright, marking a major step in its evolution as a leader in automated, client-focused real estate law.
Alongside the rebrand, the company has closed a $4.5 million seed funding round, led by Alate and Relay Ventures, bringing its total funding to $6.5 million. The investment will drive automation enhancements, client experience improvements, and market expansion.
“Our rebrand to Ownright goes beyond a name change—it’s our commitment to a smarter, seamless real estate law experience,” said Robert Saunders, CEO of Ownright. “Gone are the days of endless email chains. With automation and our streamlined processes, clients upload documents remotely, and our legal team handles the rest.”
Launched in 2023 by Robert Saunders, Joel Fox, and Benjamin Berry, Ownright has grown from three to 19 full-time employees, processed over $750 million in real estate transactions, and is on track to surpass $1 billion by the end of 2025.
The company has quadrupled its transaction volume annually, providing Ontario homebuyers and sellers with efficient, transparent, and technology-driven legal services.

With a modernized brand identity, Ownright aims to demystify real estate law, offering a more approachable experience. “Legal services shouldn’t feel intimidating—they should feel like getting trusted advice from a friendly neighbor,” said Mateo de Dios, Brand Designer at Ownright.
With fresh funding and a new identity, Ownright is set to redefine real estate law in Ontario, making transactions simpler, smarter, and more accessible for all.
