San Francisco headquartered cryptocurrency exchange Kraken has appointed Alexandre Mehrdad as the new General Manager of their Canadian operations.
The news follows a year of hyper-growth for Kraken’s Canadian business under Mark Greenberg’s stewardship, which resulted in Greenberg’s promotion to lead a brand new division in Kraken’s global business.
Over the past year, Greenberg successfully doubled the size of Kraken’s Canadian business while the company navigated the pre-registration undertaking (PRU) process.
During this period of sustained growth, Mehrdad was also a key member of Kraken’s Canadian team, leveraging his background in management consultancy and expertise in building and scaling fintech startups. This resulted in a doubling of Canadians monthly transacting users since the start of the year.
“I’m excited to lead this vital next phase of our Canadian expansion story. We’ve established a compelling offering for our local clients and are now one of the largest crypto employers with over 250 Krakenites spanning across Canada,” said Mehrdad.
“I’m committed to ensuring Kraken remains a household name in the local crypto ecosystem, and to reducing the barriers that still hold some Canadians back from achieving financial freedom through cryptoassets.”
Mehrdad takes the reins as Kraken prepares for another period of rapid growth in Canadian crypto which no doubt will include unlocking institutional demand in Canada for top-quality crypto products.
