Ottawa-based startup Bloks.app has closed a USD $1.5 million seed funding round led by Storytime Capital and Mistral Ventures, with additional participation from MaRS Investment Accelerator Fund and prominent angel investors from Apple, LinkedIn, and Grindr.
Bloks.app, co-founded by entrepreneur and venture capitalist Marc Gingras, offers an AI-powered platform designed to eliminate tedious tasks for investment teams, allowing them to focus on higher-value activities like finding and nurturing the next generation of successful startups. The platform’s AI agent automates time-consuming tasks such as note-taking, CRM updates, and investment memos, helping teams operate more efficiently.
The funds will be used to accelerate product innovation, allowing more investment teams to adopt the technology and streamline their workflows.
Bloks.app is currently being piloted by over 20 leading venture capital (VC) and private equity (PE) funds across North America. Select firms are being invited to join the Exclusive Pilot Program, offering forward-thinking teams the opportunity to revolutionize their processes with cutting-edge AI tools.
Neil Grunberg, General Partner of Storytime Capital, praised Bloks.app, saying, “This platform is more than just a tool—it’s a shift in how we operate.” Grunberg emphasized the potential for the technology to impact industries beyond VC and PE.
Code Cubitt, General Partner at Mistral Venture Partners, also highlighted Gingras’ track record of creating successful, venture-backed companies, affirming the team’s understanding of the industry and its needs.
Bloks.app aims to lead a movement toward smarter, relationship-driven investing by reducing busywork and enabling teams to focus on building winning portfolios.
