A North American financial technology firm has added iconic home improvement retailer RONA to its list of partners.
Payment network Affirm announced this week a partnership with RONA, whose retail network spans more than 400 stores nationwide.
By selecting Affirm at checkout on RONA’s e-commerce site, customers can split eligible purchases into biweekly or monthly payments for terms up to 12 months, according to a statement from the companies.
“Canadians have trusted RONA for their home improvement needs since 1939,” says Adam Powell, who serves as the company’s chief digital officer.
Since then, Powell observes, Canadians’ shopping habits have evolved.
“Many Canadians now prefer to use online solutions for making their purchases,” he explains, “and we wanted to offer them the same payment flexibility we offer customers who shop our stores through other flexible payment solutions, which is exactly what Affirm allows us to do.”
“We’re thrilled to offer greater choice at checkout to help our customers bring their projects to life,” the executive added.
Although home projects can be daunting, Affirm offers consumers “the clarity and control they need to focus on completing the job at hand without the stress or hassle of hidden fees or junk charges,” according to Wayne Pommen, chief revenue officer at Affirm.
“We’re proud to work with one of the most iconic retailers in Canada to offer a flexible and transparent way to pay for those important home improvement supplies,” he stated.
RONA joins Affirm’s network of nearly 300,000 retailers worldwide, including a partnership in Canada with Amazon, as well as Stripe, Apple, Samsung, and another iconic Canadian retailer, Hudson’s Bay.
With more than 20,000 employees across Canada, RONA is headquartered in Quebec.
Affirm trades publicly as AFRM since 2021.
